BOURGOGNE CÔTES D'AUXERRE

Regional naming of the vineyard from Auxerre, in the Yonne. The name of COTE D'AUXERRE can be added to that of BURGUNDY only for red, pinkish and white wines produced inside the area bounded by the naming. Municipalities of production: Augy, Saint-Bris-le-Vineux, Auxerre, Valleys, Champs-sur-Yonne, Quenne, Vincelottes. On the label, the mention COTE D'AUXERRE must be registered at once below the name BURGUNDY. Red: under a dress intense ruby, we perceive notes of cherry, raspberry and black fruits on the most former vineyards, the whole underlined by a minéralité subtle. This aromatic complexity comes along in mouth of wild cherry and wild strawberry slightly réglissées. Supple and silky, full and complete, a very pleasant wine. White: bright and golden, sometimes tinged with green reflections, it attacks on the almond, the hazelnut, the white flowers. Minced meat pie, it rises fast in power on a minéralité beautiful. Qualified by dried fruits and by undergrowth during its evolution, it develops a beautiful aromatic wealth.

The vineyard of Auxerre (pronounced Ausserre) possesses very former letters of nobility thanks to Saint Germain's abbey and to its nearness of Paris. It remains nevertheless very alive. In 1993, the municipalities of Auxerre, Valleys, Champs-sur-Yonne, Augy, Quenne, Saint-Bris-le-Vineux and Vincelottes received the right(law) to identify the Cote d'auxerre within the naming Burgundy. Indeed, these vineyards possess a real personality. They are situated on both sides of the Yonne, the river which gives its name to the department.
