BOURGOGNE ÉPINEUIL

Regional naming of the vineyard of Tonnerrois, in the Yonne. The name of ÉPINEUIL can be added to that of BURGUNDY only for red, pinkish or white wines produced inside the area bounded by the naming.
Municipality of production: Épineuil. On the label, the mention ÉPINEUIL must be registered at once below the name BURGUNDY. Red stemming from some pinot noir: a light wine in angel's wings. Its aromas consist of red berries (raspberry, cherry, currant) and of black fruits (Blackberries, blueberries, blackcurrant) punctuated with peppered notes. Its texture in the pleasant and velvety tannins marks its typicité. The smoked notes are not rare. Rosé stemming from some pinot noir or from some pinot gris: supple and cool, Èpineuil was always reappointed for its rosé. He knows how to remain wise while showing his vitality. White stemming from some (rare) Chardonnay: lively, dry, and well-balanced, it often carries aromas of flint, flint.

Among wines of Tonnerrois in the South of the Yonne, very close to the Chablisien, that of Épineuil (Alfred Grévin's homeland which gave its name to the eponymic museum) received its appropriate (identity in 1993 within the naming Burgundy, in red, white and pinkish. A judgment gave the right to him there from 1930. The abbeys of Saint Michel and Quincy produce here wines considered since the high Middle Ages. For a long time, they furnished Paris. Illustrious characters, Henri IV, Boileau, the Knight d'Eon carried the good name of the "good wine of Thunder". Destroyed by the phylloxera, the vineyard returns to the end of 1970s to Épineuil, according to a strict selection of countries and vines.

Similar to those of Chablisien and populated with white pebbles, grounds (kimméridgiens or neighbors) have certain qualities. The hilly part of the vineyard is sheltered from the cold winds of the tray of Langres and benefits from a favorable microclimate.
