LA GRANDE RUE

Naming Grand Cru of the côte de nuit, in Côte-d'Or. Municipality of production: Vosne-Romanée. On the label, the naming GRAND CRU has to appear necessarily at once below the name of each of these naming in an identical cutting of characters. These red Grand Crus are very often of long and beautiful keeping. As a general rule, we shall not taste them before around ten years. Sometimes 20 in
30 years. Each has an asserted personality, bound besides to the vintage wine and to its evolution. These red, blazing wines express all the subtlety and all the complexity of the Burgundian pinot noir. Brightness of the dress dark ruby, carmine with the age. Scale of the bouquet shared between the small red berries and the blacks, the violet, the spices and the undergrowth as time goes by. To the palace, a clear and powerful, delicate and sensual, frank and complete body.
Between Échezeaux (Flagey-Échezeaux) and Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée take place a median situation in côte de nuit. Its vineyards stage between 250 meters and 310 meters in height. They are facing the rising sun, sometimes slightly east-south-east. "Pearl of the environment" of the Burgundian necklace, Vosne-Romanée does not content himself with a four aces. Six Grand Crus the glory of which is universal! The monks of Saint living on Vergy (Cluny) and the Cistercians of Cîteaux began to emphasize these soils of exception it has one thousand there years. The prince of Conti offered even his name to one of these vineyards as he married for ever (1760). Romanée-Conti is one of the world wonders (monopoly for a long time). By his/her side, Romanée-Saint-Vivant calls back the memory of this monastery of the High Coast in full restoration nowadays and when leads a ready path of the Grape-picker's basket to Vosne-Romanée. Romanée in monopoly, as The Task and The Main street. Richebourg finally: its name fills the glass to him alone.
Romanée-Conti rests on strongly clayey calcareous brown grounds (60 cms). Romanée Saint-Vivant possesses deeper but nearby grounds (90 cms). Higher on the hillside, Romanée presents a marked slope (12 %) and a less clayey texture. The Task and The Main street share little thick calcareous brown grounds partially high, deeper partially low rendzines ). It's the same for Richebourg according to the slope and the hillside. Base: the hard limestone of Premeaux. The geologic origin: Jurassic (175 million years).
Red wines exclusively, pinot noir grape variety.
