If in texts the naming Médoc wine interests the whole Médoc wine (all the producers can claim her(it), but prefer, when they can it, to choose a more prestigious naming), in the practice it extends over the third North of the vineyards of the Médoc wine, the limit of the naming height-Médoc wine to Soulac-sur-Mer.

It is lined in the East by the estuary of the Gironde and on the West by the forest of Landes. It considers varied, rocky, calcareous or sandy which, when they are badly drained, Bordeaux credits stemming from vineyards with strong return. On the other hand certain bourgeois vintage wines, as Château Potensac and la Tour de By can equal wines of the more prestigious naming situated in the South.
