PAUILLACI was always struck to Pauillac by the atmosphere of seaside city of the XIXth century, with the modest hotels, the terraces of coffee (cafe) giving onto the port (bearing), yachts and fishermen's boats. Now some most vintage wines of the world are made in the neighborhood. On slopes coming down (falling) towards the Gironde and along the road rising to Saint Estèphe, castles and vineyards dominate the landscape.
The big Lords are 1st considered Latour, Lafite Rothschild and Sheep Rothschild whereas the pair of 2nd considered rival Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande and Pichon Longueville Baron distrusts on one side the road in the other one. Five of twelve 5th vintage wines(vineyards), Armailhac, Clerk Milon, Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Lynch-Bages and Pontet-Canet play in the court(yard) of the big and appear often also among the winners(conquerors) of the international jousts. What is there thus of so special to Pauillac? The answer is in the association of the Cabernet, the merlot, the ground of grave and flat slopes on which shoot the vineyard (vine). It is necessary to add that the owners of Pauillac or their representatives are fascinated by their wines. Whereas some to Margaux let of big vineyards give inferior wines, here Rothschild, Borie families, Cazes, Tesseron and of Lencquesaing all fired the best of their vineyards (vines). The flexibility which presents their wines allows us to drink them still young, but if we give them the time (weather) in cellar which they deserve, they acquire a bouquet of ripe (mature) fruits, game and unprecedented spices in the Inhabitant of Bordeaux, in France or in the world.
