PESSAC-LEOGNAN

A group of vintage wines(vineyards), among which the illustrious castle Haut-Brion, clement Pope, Haut-Bailly and knight's Domain, carried(wore) until 1987 the name of the naming grave, a region extending known southeast of the city of Bordeaux in the South of Langon, on about 60 kilometres. The North municipalities(Communes), near Bordeaux, producing the best wines, obtained the creation in their profit of a new naming, pessac-léognan, which carries(wears) the name of the most known both municipalities(Communes).

The naming, with approximately 9 million annual bottles, is quantitatively less important than that of grave with 22 millions, but it possesses a ground onduleux of grave drained well completed for the culture of the Cabernet and the merlot, giving flexible red, sémillion and sauvignon giving dry whites. Although their fruit is more soft and they have a little bit mineral character, red of pessac-léognan are similar of those stemming from rocky grounds of the Height-Médoc wine.

Even the best, which evolve slowly, understood(included) Castles Haut-Brion there, are accessible(approachable) in their youth, although they need a decade to reveal their complexity. Some vintage wines(vineyards), as the Castle Haut-Brion and knight's Domain, have an old tradition of excellent dry white wines stemming from the sémillion and from the sauvignon. Others, as the Castle Carbonnieux, progressed in by giant and make dry whites at once fascinating and complex.
