POMEROLAlthough we already had some wine in the region of Pomerol in 1st century avenue J.C, it is only in the 1960s when his(her,its) wines, now exclusively red, became known on the international market. In the XVIIIth century, we produced especially white wines there. When the white vines gave up the place(square) to vines mixed farming, the vineyard(vine) occupying only a secondary place(square). A long time, wines of Pomerol stayed in the shade of those of saint Emilion. We know the importance of the English market for wines of Bordeaux, but a reference book published in 1920 in London did not even mention Pomerol. The only markets for his(her,its) wines were then Belgium and l the North of France, where they were known only of a handle of lit(enlightened) amateurs, considering the exiguity of domains and thus a reduced production. There was not and there is still to Pomerol no luxurious castles. That of Pétrus, today one of the most famous vintage wines(vineyards) of the naming, the wine of which counts among the dearest(the most expensive) of the world, is hardly more than a modest farm producing less than 6000 bottles a year.
