The municipality of Vougeot produces a Grand Cru: CLOSED OF VOUGEOT. Naming VOUGEOT and VOUGEOT PREMIER CRU can be followed or not by the name of their climate of origin. Near the Closed of Vougeot, Musigny, Lovers, red Vougeot possesses a strong relationship with his illustrious neighbors. Of a dark purple deep and bright, dark purple tint, it develops aromas of violet and small fruits (Morello cherry, blackcurrant). Older, it pulls towards the undergrowth, the dead leaf and the truffle on animal notes. In mouth, it has the solid shoulders but its tannins show themselves however delicate.
The attack is frank, the fat and the acidity in harmony, finale often réglissée. White: under its fine dress of white or grey gold, the bouquet of hawthorn, locust tree are of a pleasant access, a mango sometimes. A mineral nuance is frequent.

For older wines, the aromatic range goes of the amber to the bread of spices, the quince in the fig. A rather dry character with this usual strong nuance of the Chardonnay in côte de nuit. Rare here, these white vineyards are historic and of Cistercian origin.

Vougeot in côte de nuit ? We think immediately in famous Clos de  Vougeot, but this village counts the other beautiful vineyards. He owes his name to a small river, Vouge. Established here for the XIIth century, the abbey of Cîteaux gave to these wines a glittering brightness. Established in 1936, the protected designation of origin deserves to be known and tasted, as far as (rare in côte de nuit its wines are red and whites.

Between 240 and 280 meters in height, vineyards(vines) bloom partially high on calcareous brown grounds of a shallow depth; calcareous and marly in fine texture and of clay by coming down(by falling) towards Piedmont. We are very close here to the northern part(party) of the Closed of Vougeot.
