Ducru-Beaucaillou Regaining control of the castle by Bruno Borie after the death of his father Jean-Eugene, is now complete. After some wavering in the early 2000s, recent vintages produced, obtained at the cost of a drastic selection, reconnect with the grand style of Ducru-Beaucaillou the years 1960, 1970 and 1980.
Never demonstrative, over-extracted nor very powerful, the wines are conspicuous by their distinction and the silkiness of their material. These are great classic Medoc and balanced. Caution, however, a Ducru-Beaucaillou fully revealing do with age, it is always a shame to eat too early, its freshness in the final is the opposite of heavy wines too often made today. Note that the second wine of Chateau is also highly recommended.
Unfortunately, like Cos d'Estournel, prices are rising in recent years.
