Jean-Louis Chave
Gerard Chave and his son Jean-Louis form a tandem copy and embody a vision fair and intelligent viticulture. In régulatité flawless for many years, the wines of Hermitage, white and red, reached the last vintages, a level of perfection that commands admiration. Although the field is located in Mallow, on the other bank of the Rhone - it also produces an excellent St. Joseph, most of the vineyards are situated on the hill of Hermitage.
Each plot is cultivated with great care and always harvested late: the Chave make wine and raise separately these different climates, as they were intended to call as many different vintages. Finally, they assemble with consummate art the best of these wines (the rest is sold in bulk to the trade), to give birth to one white wine of Hermitage, and in exceptional vintages, two red wines (Hermitage and Hermitage cuvée Cathelin).
