Palmer The legend of Palmer was built in 1961. The castle has produced that year, an extraordinary wine, also well above its illustrious neighbor Margaux. The vintages that followed, though often impressive, have not reached that level of excellence, but the reputation of the castle was made and prices frequently exceeded those of other second Médoc classified growths, while the quality does not justify forever.
Things change since 1998, with a series of significant investments in property and the willingness shown by his brilliant young director, Thomas Duroux of Palmer back to the top of the hierarchy of Bordeaux. The castle is developing a personal style wine, with a high proportion of Merlot. Often less expressive than its neighbors during the early years, he earns considerably in complexity with aging, and then acquires a remarkable and complex bouquet. The second wine, Alter Ego, is one of the best of Bordeaux.
