Ruinart
Ruinart, the oldest champagne houses, was founded in 1729 by Nicolas Ruinart, whose uncle, Dom Ruinart, was a friend of Dom Perignon. Despite its absorption by Moet & Chandon in 1963, Ruinart seems to enjoy a certain autonomy, unlike other houses in the LVMH group. Its wines are old, with intense flavors and the emphasis is on Chardonnay, much of which comes from vineyards in the house. Blanc de Blancs (Grapes of Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs) is particularly commendable.
